Leaving on a Jet Plane
As summer approaches, it seems that more and more sites are offering tips for traveling with tots. When I was a kid, I remember carrying around a box of crayons and printer paper for the plane, possibly my brick-sized GameBoy... oh and a Ziploc of Teddy Grahams. Pretty standard. Today however, children are straggling around the airport with monogrammed backpacks, chock full of iPods, Webkinz, PSPs, stinky Prismacolors and sketchbooks! That's without even mentioning the snacks... but really- it gets to be so cumbersome... especially since most of it has to be emptied at security. So you ask, what exactly Kid, should they bring on the plane (this can be applied to other modes of transportation as well)? Well, mommies, I shall divulge my little list of traveling essentials; enjoy.
1. a SMALL backpack or canvas tote that can easily be shoved under the seat in front of you.
2. ONE choice of either hand-held game or mp3 (i.e. iPod, PSP, etc...).
3. travel-size box of crayons (much less messy/stinky than markers)
4. a coloring+activity book in one (loose paper can cause a huge hassle when removing items).
5. a healthy snack: apples slices or a few cheese sticks (depending on your child's tastes you want to have a healthy and filling alternative to what is offered on the plane).
Wishing you safe travels (and hopefully some in-flight shut-eye)!
xx
Green Babies: Earth Lovers
For those of you loving all things earthy- I came across these pop art collages at Anthropologie; perfect for brightening up your little one's nest! Originally made by illustrator Lorena Siminovich, each depicts different birds in/with trees/branches. With the use of such vibrant colors and simple shapes- they're absolutely adorable!

She's Late, She's Late! For a Very Important Date!
From April 25th to May 25th- you can take your kiddies to check out a new version of Alice in Wonderland. The Philip Coltoff Center on Sullivan St. will be opening the production this Friday, presented by The New Acting Company. Poor little Alice is a Greenwich Village girl, whose parents have micromanaged her schedule- to the point that she's forgotten what a play date is! (I know you're blushing powermommies.) Aimed at ages 4 and up- it's sure to be fun for parents and kids! Click on the pic for more info!
Not-So-Modest Miley
The Miley/Hannah tidal wave hit the world with full force in the past year, so I'm pretty sure you know who this little lady is. I bet your kids do too! Well, once again racy photos of the 15 year-old Disney star, have surfaced on the internet. Just a little teen fun, or is it more than that? In the pictures she gives puppy eyes, and pulls her shirt down to see her bra... since her target audience is very young- it makes me a little uncomfortable. What are your thoughts? Share below!
